I am a diamond player who has been playing valorant since release. I started at iron 1 and climbed all the way to diamond 2.
I haven’t seen this tip anywhere. Most people think about cross hair placement, counter strafe and raw aim/flicks.
What no one talks about is “aiming” with your A and D keys (left, right). When I go in a 1v1 duel I aim normally. I get my crosshair as close as possible to the enemies head. If my crosshair is super close to their head but needs a micro adjustment , I do a small strafe (not a counter strafe).
if you relied on your raw aim, a small micro adjustment might overshoot your crosshair. It is much easier to simply tap your A/D key. This is also good because the enemy will have a harder time to hit you.
This tip only works when you have good crosshair placement/head level. The reason it only works when you have headshot level aim is because all you need to worry about is your horizontal aim.

I've spent four hours moving my monitor, mousepad, mouse and chair around and I think I'm going insane because all these 100's of different positions feel equally uncomfortable
