Hey there!
I am quite new and have found lots of great content on YouTube about how to improve aim, crosshair placement, etc, but what I’m looking for is content on strategy things like movement at the beginning (all together or split, if split who goes where), which abilities have unwritten rules, how to position at the end of a match etc. I realize a lot of these things are map dependent, so like a generalization and then a specific example would be nice. I see a lot of advice to watch pros but honestly, I don’t understand the game / agents enough to pick up on their strategies or what we do differently (besides them killing and me getting killed lol)
Overall, I don’t understand when to use slows, smokes or walls because I can’t decide when it’s helpful vs when it’s hindering my team. For example, I watched a video on how to play sage and they said placing the walls is essential / you’ll get griefed for not placing one, but it glossed over the where and why so I still have no idea when to place them in practice. Similarly, I don’t want to wall off, smoke, or slow somewhere that is going to make my team mad at me- if anyone knows of any overarching strategy videos to send my way I’d be grateful!
I got called an idiot for dying on a defensive 1v1 (I mean yeah, I have no idea what I’m doing so they’re not wrong) and I wish they would have told me why what I did was dumb (or what I should have done instead) so I could actually improve.
I really enjoy the strategy side of gaming, so I figured if I could at least nail down how to use utils while I also work on my aim I could be slightly less useless. Is this a bad idea?

Half the time I take a gun fight, I teleport which shifts my crosshair and causes me to lose the aim duel. (Ex in post)
