How does the mmr system actually work?

I'm barley a P1 player but I get queued up against enemies that are way out of my comfort zone. (Also, I only got to P1 on pure luck. Peaked Gold 1 last episode)

In Unrated and Comp games I am in Asscendent and high Diamond Lobbys and Deathmatches are just hell with Radiant and Immortal players.

Is there any way that i can change my mmr so I am in the elo that i actually belong to? How are they even calculating the mmr? I mean me being bottom fragger in all of my games shouldnt that tell them something?

I am actually trying to get better so i have been playing a lot of dms but I just get 1 tapped all the time. The only time i get kills is if i can suprise people from behind or just ks.
