I know complaints about toxicity and smurfs are rampant on this subreddit but please hear me out this post is not one of them. Few disclaimers first, I have nothing against smurfers (in fact, i view them as a challenge) or toxic teammates (because I can just mute them). I am just an average Silver player in valorant but I have an esports mindset as I participated in numerous esports tournament for Clash Royale and for World Royale League representing my country so I know the concept of tilt. The complaints of lower elo here is very similar to the complaints of lower elo in CR so I understand the frustrations of some players on this subreddit.
Toxic teammates dont bother me because there is always a mute option and I can do my own thing. I very rarely get tilted from bad teammates or toxic teammates because I myself know that I am not the best and I am in this rank for a reason. However, the problem is those toxic teammates tilt themselves and other teammates. How do you guys combat this? I always try to be positive. Even when they whiff, I say "unlucky mate" or "nice try. you almost had him". When they make mistake, I try my best to approach them tactfully. When they point out my mistakes, I take the criticism and adapt. Sometimes, I call out strats, sometimes I follow someone's strats. Give or take. I used to main sentinels and controllers because people here tend to play duelists a lot but that left me on so many disadvantageous situations like constantly retaking 1v4 as Sage or viper after all my utilities were wasted on stalling the push on my end. I have been playing a lot with my diamond friends recently and they have been kind enough to coach me through my mistakes. Recently my aim has improved too as I match/team mvp constantly (I do proper trades, dont bait nor are they mere exit frags). I gain more RR than I lose so I think that means something but I lose more games than I win which is kinda demoralizing. XD
I wont go into the details of toxicity because its the standard that we all have heard but recently I noticed that even though I don't get tilted from them, my teammates heavily do. I had games where some players just leave because they get tilted and then the toxic one goes afk at the end too leading to a 3v5. To people who faced similar situations, how do you keep the team spirit high in face of toxicity or is it just one of those suck-it-up and move on type of game?
Sorry if this post has already been up on this subreddit before but I personally have only seen posts that complaints about the issue rather than possible solutions to the problem.
