I really hope Riot will not fall into the trap of releasing too much agents in Valorant

Some of you may have lived through the crash of Overwatch by Blizzard when they kept releasing more and more characters into the game. This always linevitably leads to the release of overloaded characters (hi Brigitte) and unhealthy concepts.

To this day we have had 5 agent releases within the first year of Valorant and a new agent is already in dev. At this rate, we will have doubled the initial amount of agents in 1 year.

I hope Riot has understood the fact that aim/shooting skills must remain at the center of the game and spells are only there for tactical purpose. Riot already accepted to have healing (Reyna, Skye, Sage, Phoenix), dashes (Jett and somehow Raze), teleports (Omen, Yoru) which are very disruptive mechanics in the world of FPS.

So i'm really scared of Riot releasing Valorant's Brigitte in the near future when they will have run out of basic concepts. This is even more concerning when we know that LoL already came through this a while ago. Which led to a clear fracture between the initial champions released which had very basic spell kits and "new" champions with passives everywhere, dash, healing and invincibility overloads. As you can imagine it made anyone playing the older champions look like a bot as they not even getting outplayed but out designed.

So I hope Riot doesn't come once again to the point where there is a meta in the game that forces people to play the most recent agent releases instead of letting players stick to their main and improve. Starcraft2 has been in this state since Legacy Of The Void (7 years without major changes to the game) and it led to a meta that is settled and "definitive" where players figured out the counters of most strats and it's up to them to read the game and execute them properly. Riot should definitely head towards that end point where the game would be as balanced and diverse as possible and then let the players learn the game and be creative without having to adapt to recurrent changes and agent releases.

Hopefully they will slow down the agent releases at some point because they only get money from weapon skins and cosmetics so they have no interest in releasing new agents over a long period. The only big thing that should change at some point is map pool extension / map rotation.
