TRIGGER WARNING: mentions of assault

i'm so fucking sick of it. i'm especially used to toxicity in game being a woman, in chat and on voice. it's something i just brush past at this point, a quick report and mute.

but today i was playing in a 5 stack with my usual group of friends, facing a toxic team in unrated. they were talking shit in the chat, completely unprompted. we thought it was funny at first, just some "yall are shit at the game" stuff, so we engaged with some like "your mum" jokes and shit. then, all the sudden, an enemy said something along the lines of "you probably get [assaulted] by the pastor".

completely out of left field, compared to what we replying with in chat. a friend in the 5 stack, who has trauma relating to such scenario, immediately disconnected from the game and the call and had a traumatic episode. it was horrible having to hear the DC noise and knowing immediately what happened.

it's bullshit. people hiding behind screens, saying such horrendous stuff. i don't want to hear any of that "well if it's that bad for them they shouldn't be playing games" bullshit. just because they have trauma doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to play a fucking game. there needs to be stricter penalties for people like this. it's insane. everyone underestimates the impact their shitty little words have on others. sure, saying stuff like "you're bad" and such is harmless fun, but that other shit? what a horrible human you need to be to say something like that. i'm sick of it.

edit; y’all really wonder why you don’t hear women talk in vc huh? look at these responses. for those saying “just mute lol” yeah, obviously asshole. at first we thought it was playful banter with the enemy team, then out of left field the enemy said what they did (if you read my fucking post). the damage was done. maybe learn some empathy.
