I think Duelist are initiators and don't have to "pop off" top fragging to do their job and win for their team

First I think the duelist tooltip shouldn't say and the team expects to get high frags. Sure your kit is helpful for this, but this just makes people want to bait and trade and not go in. The scoreboard is focused on far too often. You could lose with a Jett that is 20-15-0 or you could win with a phoenix that is 10-20-10. I think if this mentality went away that you picked a duelist (insta lock or not) you need to be top fragging. You're just starting off team fights you go in first. You could communicate to your team your intent and even if you don't get a kill could win the game for your team.

An example...

You're playing Bind. You're attacking. Phoenix explains he's going to push A short. He's going to molly u-haul, wall in front of TP and flash out of the wall for the team to push through as he goes to take control of u-haul. Regardless if he kills the guy u-haul or not this is a big start to the round and helpful to the team... IF THEY KNOW. This doesn't help at all if you just do this without saying a word and half your team goes shower.

Now obviously never getting kills will not be useful for your team, but it shouldn't be required every round. Some rounds you get 0 some you get 3 or even an ace. Your job is to initiate and to start things off. Even without a flash you can start it off, Raze for example can boom bot and follow it with satchels or not. Jett can smoke then dash into the smoke. It's very disorienting for the enemy team and even if they kill the Jett they are now not facing the entry point for where the team is following.

I'm not a radiant or even good at this game so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt. My highest rank is Diamond 2 as a solo que (only ever solo que) so I don't get to have 200 IQ plays with a 5 man. I just state my intent and hope my team plays off it. Obviously you can not do the same thing every-time, but your primary job should always be to go in first and start off the rounds. Play as a team and if the team has no interest in your plans just play around them and try to call flashes or whatever you're going to initiate with.

tl:dr Duelist should not focus on kills, but focus on initiating for their team which should hopefully yield kills.
