what if you had to aim the molly like an omen smoke but the range of this spell was limited to a mediumish amount? i think this would help viper as a solo controller because it would make landing mollies easier, but it wouldnt really make her OP as she'd be easier to punish

the range i had in mind was... lets say you plant spike at front gen on ascent. you can throw the molly from A main orb but not any further. this way youre guaranteed that your molly lands HOWEVER since you cant be in africa youre easier to punish. this could help viper be a more competitive pick against other controllers in comp (since shes usually the worst controller you can pick.. especially since icebox/breeze are out), but it wouldnt really affect her pickrate in VCT as the reasons shes picked when she is would remain
