Is everybody down bad this season?

Hey guys. Just wanted to ask this one question. Why am I being placed with such higher elo players. As a silver 1 im just wondering why im playing with like gold 2 to plat 1 players. Im not complaining since its actually pretty good practice, plus I get to meet some pretty cool people.
