Is it just me, or are North American servers super toxic?

For a bit of background, I live in an English-speaking Caribbean island, I barely speak Spanish (like most people where I live) but got put on SA servers by default. A few days ago, I decided to make an account to play on NA servers, I figured it'd be more enjoyable if I could communicate better with my teammates. I was wrong and it was a horrible experience in every sense of the word (except I got better ping).

In the few games that I played (uncompetitive) everyone was super hostile. Instead of laughing about people on our team failing sometimes, you'd hear this vast list of expletives and comments like "delete the game dude", "you're so trash", "gg no (insert whatever agent name made a mistake here)" and other weird sexual comments, racial slurs, and bigotry in general.

I'm not unusually sensitive, I grew with the internet and know how it can be, but the difference in the attitude players have on the SA and NA servers respectively is crazy. I could lose a game on the former and be fine, joining some random teammate's party afterwards and laughing about it for a few more games, but on the NA servers the team loses one round of a match and people are begging you to surrender and threatening to spam report you because "everyone is so ass".

I'm not really sure what the point of this post is, I was just so taken aback by the difference, by the rudeness, excessive competitiveness, and bigotry that I had to ask if this was normal... or rant about it, I guess.
