Contemplating this a lot. I reached gold 3 as Phoenix. Really enjoy him. I feel more confident with my aim, more concentrated etc and I think he suits my playstyle.

I decided to play another agent instead of duelists. I know duelists get a bad rep on this sub and the popularity of them is overwhelming in Valorant so I thought "Hey, Cypher is pretty cool, I like his kit, lets try to learn to play him!".

The problem is I COULD NOT play him well at all. I played TWICE as many games altogether on Cypher then with Phoenix, over 60 games on Cypher or so. I ended up dropping to silver 3. It was like no matter how hard I tried, watched all these videos, watched my replays, took notes, studied, tried to play aggressive/passive etc, I just COULDN'T play the god damn character. It's like he's genetically out of my reach and I kept seeing all this potential I had with him just whiffing out everytime I dueled someone.

So I decide to finally jump back on Phoenix and all of a sudden It was like I was a new man, playing back to the potential I knew I had all along and climbed back up to Gold 3 in fact I am almost surpassing it right now and I'm very close to Plat.

Perhaps I'm exaggerating, or perhaps I just am in some kind of wrong frame of mind. However I feel as though, whether It's my playstyle or something, I am just more in control with myself and more confident when I play a duelist, even though my aim isn't nothing to brag about. It's just weird man.

It's mildly dissappointing yet interesting at the same time. Knowing there are some agents that look so cool, that I would like to play, but I will probably never get to play well because they just don't gel with me for some reason or I can't seem to grasp that confidence and flare that I have with say, Phoenix or some duelist. Anyone else experienced this? Is this normal? Let me know.
