I'm in my early thirties, so my reaction time is nothing like it used to be, and, after playing a good amount of matches, I've realized that the reaction time of the younger folks is just too fast for me to keep up with. So, one day, I decided to change things up. Instead of going for a more aggressive playstyle, I'd decided to go for a more passive playstyle, where, instead of constantly pushing the enemies and going super aggro, which is usually my playstyle in games in general, I stay back, wait for some information and wait for the enemy to come to me, rather than running into them.
Of course, implementing this depends on the situation, but, for the most part, this is my playstyle. I've also started playing less aggro agents and more supportive ones, like Sova and Sage. This playstyle has actually won me more games, as it just works much better for me. I'm performing better and having so much more fun as a result. But my friend keeps on telling me every game to push with him and that, when he pushes too early or too hard, he blames me for not following him. He's way more experienced than me, so, at first, I was thinking he was right, so I switched back to being aggro with him, but we ended up losing more games. Then I switched back and we ended up winning more games (mainly because I wasn't feeding as much anymore).
After a certain point, his attitude just started to feel really toxic. He's telling me that I'm playing too passively and that I should follow him, but the numbers don't lie: after playing the way that works for me the most, we started winning more games. I'm starting to feel that he doesn't like that I'm not bottom fragging anymore and that, sometimes, I'm higher than him in terms of KDA. Is it really so bad that I'm not playing aggro with him anymore?
