Isn't the closeness of the game supposed to affect how much you lose? Was Riot just lying all along and we only recently got to see the numbers to prove it? They made a solid argument in favor of the system back in beta, why isn't it (still/ever) in place?

Here is a 13-15 loss that hit me with -21 RR. (165 avg combat)
Here is a 6-13 loss that also hit me with -21 RR. (184 avg combat)

"We're taking your personal skill into account"
And from the same blog post: "Competitive mode also measures how decisively you win or lose. We figure, if there is a benefit to your rank that comes from playing your best for the entire match, it will incentivize you to stay in the fight and not throw games."

You're right - a rank incentive does prevent throwing. But there isn't one in place right now, so I hear a lot of "well this is 19 RR I'll have to make back next game, let's ares rush."
