Hey there! I just wanted to share my experience on this journey.
First of all, I wasn't new to FPS games, I used to play CSGO, and some random games like Apex and OW, played just for fun. Didn't quite rank that high on those. So I gave Valorant a try, starting at Episode 3 Act I.
I was placed on Silver 2, I thought "oh well here we go". Didn't take the game so seriously, just messing around with my friends, playing random agents, doing random sh!t.
One day, I was playing an unrated match, there was this guy just demolishing me and my team. It was impressive, at that time I thought "yo this guy must be hacking lol", but oh boy I was so wrong back then.
So long story short, I added that guy, and the first thing he told me is "You suck kid, I made you my b!tch". I'm a pretty calm and relaxed person, but I'm not taking trash from anyone. I was like wtf fr? I wanted to ask him about his aim routine or some tips. I saw his rank before he elimated me right away he trash talked me. He was Diamond 3. So I told to myself "I'm gonna rank up and f' this guy".
That changed everything.
I started aim training, looking for guides on how to position myself better, how to isolate 1v1's, what Agents fit my playstyle.
On the process I changed my sens, enemy color, crosshair, grip, aiming techniques like arm, wrist, mixed and resolution a lot of times, looking for the one that suits me best. I tried 0.766/800 dpi, then: 0.11, 0.15, 0.17, 0.20, 0.22, 0.3, 0.35, 0.42, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.766 all on 800 dpi.
Then I isolated every single aspect first then mixing them up. Like reaction time, I played DM without sound and hold sites, moving from one angle to another. Strafing on the range. Practicing Onetaps, Burst and Spray, knowing when and how to use them. Practicing flicks with Hard Bots (even though you shouldn't rely on flicking) getting 18-24 consistent hits. Tracking on Aimlab and the range. Precision and microadjustments also on aimlab and on the range.
0.17 was the fkng sweet spot for me with a mixed technique, on 1280x960 4:3.
Episode 3 Act 1 I ended Gold 2, okay, that was fine for me, no rush.
Episode 3 Act 2 I ended Platinum 1, okay, slowly learning.
Episode 3 Act 3 I ended Platinum 3 on one acc, and Diamond 1 on another one. Now we starting to play.
Episode 4 Act 1 and 2 were more about learning and specliazing on my Agent pool, learning Sova recon/shock lineups, timing the Kayos flash, clearing corners with Skye's dog, knowing where to setup with KJ and Chamber to maximize efficency, communicating on a respectful way right with my teammates even tho they were tilted af, giving good calls not just random stuff, staying quiet when someone is cluthing or try to summarize the info quick and short, minimizing dangerous holding spots.
Episode 4 Act 3 I went from Diamond 1 to Immortal 1, and I'm sure as hell not stopping there.
You might say "Yeh it's a sh1t rank" but idgaf, i'm proud of the progress I made. With decision, focus and work you can do anything, not just in Valorant but in life itself.
Back then I thought Diamond and Immo players were Demons.
But now, I realized i'm the demon, and i'm comming for that guy that trashtalked me when I was Silver.
Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to share my experience, and if you are hardstuck on any rank below me, I promise you can get out of it, there are gonna be some bad and horrible days on your journey but you gotta persevere. This game is not about how sickyour flicks are, it's about being consistant, being comfortable and trusting yourself on duels, and if you can't win aiming duels then use your mind, be creative and make the enemy come to your playzone, play with their head, don't be repetitive, change angles, change setups.
I still need to learn more so I can reach a higher rank.
Now i'm aiming for Radiant, but small steps, gotta hit Immortal 2 first. Idk how long it will take me but i'm sure I will get there.
Remember not everyone can be Tenz or ScreaM, but anyone can hit a high rank if you are decided.
If I did it, you sure as hell can.
If you got any tips or critics feel free to comment them, I'm open to any perspective.
(Photo was taken with my phone lol)
TLDR; A Diamond 3 player on an Unrated match told me "I made you my btch" when I was Silver on Ep3 A1. I focused on getting better at this game, and I did.
Edit 1: forgot to add the photo lol
Edit 2 & 3: correcting some spelling mistakes
