Ive seen many ppl question why KJ has range limiters on her util, and as a kj main, I'd like to offer some insight into why riot added that to kj in the first place.

The reason, as many of you probably already would have guessed, is game balance. But not for the reasons you may think.

The unique thing about KJ, out of all the sentinels currently available to play, is that she has utility that has high kill potential without having to do the killing herself. Her nanoswarms are nearly always free dmg and time stalling. Cypher and sage dont have any damage based util (the 5 dmg from a cypher trip doesnt count) and chamber has to put on his big boy pants and get the big iron out.

However, these nanoswarms arent exactly useful if u dont know when to activate them. Which is where kj's two other abilities come in. Both are intel baswd and trigger off of enemy contact. This provides intel with which kj can know theres enemy presence there and trigger her nanoswarm knowing it will get value.

And there lies the reason why the range limiter exists. Why should killjoy, the only sentinel that can kill without any real input from kj herself, be allowed to be on a whole 'nother site, holding it down with her teamates, while having util with stall AND kill potential keeping tabs on another site? Cypher trips require cypher to be there to play off the wallhack, chamber's trademark needs him or another player to respond to it going off or getting destroyed lest it just be a minor inconvinience, and i dont really have to say shit about sage slows.

TL;DR: KJ mollys require intel to be useful, which her turret and alarmbot provide, which is why they need to be range limited lest kj have mapwide presence. I dont have to tell u why mapwide presence on a sentinal is bad.
