My questions for the next Ask Valorant

A lot of people were really upset after the last Ask Valorant. Mostly about the lack of a replay system. What bothered me most is that those were not the questions I would like answered. I do not care about a replay system and won't be giving Riot any more money for gun skins. I care more about the experience of playing the game. At this point, I feel like I keep playing because I am addicted to it rather than because I actually enjoy the game. Here are the questions I would like Riot to answer in the next Ask Valorant:

1. Smurfing, AFKs, and throwing games are still big problems in Valorant and exist because of alt- accounts. Why does Riot not want to eliminate alt-accounts and allow only one account per person? Why not implement some form of 2FA system?

2. What are some examples of penalties players might receive for being AFK or for intentionally throwing games?

  • Many players don't feel like reporting players actually does anything
  • Valorant showed a graph of AFK reports declining over time. Maybe players are just reporting it less because it doesn't do anything?
  • I was so upset one game about a teammate throwing and sabotaging our team that I reported them again through the website. I submitted a screenshot of them saying in chat that they were throwing to de-rank. I also submitted a video clip of them not defusing the spike or trying to kill the enemy player. During this game they were also being sexist to a teammate, and trying to kill our team and themselves with utility. They did not receive a penalty and continue to play competitive games on that account. If Valorant values competitive integrity so much, why are players who intentionally ruin the game for everyone else still allowed to play?

3. Why are microphone use and voice-comms not mandatory in competitive games?

  • If a teammate dies and doesn't say anything, isn't that sabotaging the team?
  • Valorant is based on the concept of; gather information -> make a plan -> execute that plan. It's kind of hard to do this with teammates who don't speak or share information
  • The high levels of toxicity within the game likely lead to players not wanting to speak. This is a fair point but just means that toxic players should be receiving stronger penalties

4. Has Riot considered removing the spawn sounds and mini-map locations from Deathmatch?

  • I completely understand if Riot servers are not able to have an open or drop-in Deathmatch with no winner, but other changes could still be an improvement
  • It feels like many players hold common spawn sites and wait for the spawn sound to swing
  • The spawn locations are still terrible
  • Why not experiment and try some changes? It's only Deathmatch and a winner doesn't matter. If the changes don't work, they can be reverted in the following patch
  • Pistols-only Deathmatch option? Please, please, please

5. Will Riot be implementing a shorter unrated mode such as games to 7?

  • At one point I checked and 10 of my last 15 unrated games ended with one team surrendering
  • It is not uncommon for a team in the lead to surrender
  • It would be nice to have a game mode with actual gameplay and gun-buys like a competitive game, just in a shorter time period
  • Escalation and Replication can be fun, but I don't use Stinger, Bulldog, and Ares in a comp game, so it isn't really good practice to just run around with guns I don't use

Riot has done a great job at adding new maps and agents, and making changes to existing ones. I feel all of those changes have been really good and there is always exciting new content. That part of the game has been great. What needs to change is the user experience, and reducing the amount of bad experiences brought on by the behavior of some players.
