You've probably heard people talking about this time, but people say to slice the pie when clearing angles (if you don't know what it is, it's when you short-peek every angle without exposing yourself to multiple angles in one swing). Now here's the issue I find:
- It's extremely slow. By the time you finish clearing all angles, it's very possible you get peeked from one of the ones you already cleared. Also, it gives enemies plenty of time to rotate if you're faking a site then doing this.
- People typically hold for short peeks when they know you have no info. This means most of the time you do this you'll be killed anyway because they have crosshair placement on you. Seems like me, and the people I watch do it peek into enemy crosshairs most of the time.
Here's two counterpoints that I can see being a reason to still slice the pie over wideswing:
- Maybe risk v reward is lower, you might be peeking into a crosshair but it's possibly better than risking exposing yourself to multiple angles
- Maybe it's easier for your teammates to trade, since it isolates the angle that the enemy is on
However, I feel like most of the times I use this method, it doesn't work and I end up wishing I just gambled info and swung wider where I thought they were instead, because it usually ends up with me walking into a crosshair. Of course, there's time where this has come in handy, but I feel like most of the time I'd rather do a longer (not a wide swing, but longer than a short peek).
For the record, I'm an Immortal 2 player. Any insight on why everyone says to do this is appreciated, don't care about your rank.
