Plagued with random ping spikes? Try this!

what’s up everyone! :)

i’ve been having some issues over the last couple of the months with super inconsistent ping whenever entering games. before hopping into queue, i check the servers’ ping, and despite showing low latency, i’m still slammed with 200-300 ping in-game. i would also run a speed test, and would get 500+Mbps up and down, so my internet didn't seem to be the problem.

frustration set in, as i was unable to reliably queue comp or even unrated matches without lagging my soul away (couldn’t even plant spike half the time). i opened 2 support tickets and shared my logs with them, and seemed to isolate the issue to my ISP.

after some digging, i came across: cloudflare warp. you can check it out here: https://1.1.1.1/

in short, it’s a VPN that masks your traffic from your ISP and speeds up your internet connection using the 1.1.1.1 DNS resolver. why is this important? our ISPs, from my understanding, route traffic however they wish; so they can choose not to prioritize traffic to and from valorant’s servers. since installing this, all of my games have stayed at a steady 17-18 ping when connected to my closest server. i personally have not had anymore ping spikes since then. the app is also super light, easy to use, and doesn’t require any real setup. just install, and turn on from your PC’s system tray.

i’d like to finalize this by saying i am in no way associated with cloudflare, or their app; i simply just hope to help some people who were experiencing the same issues as me.

i really hope this helps you out the way it helped me.

cheers
