Notes before I begin: There is footage out there in case you didn't realize it's a thing already (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7lHLQIQoMY&t=336s&ab_channel=Mr.GHOSTGAMING), and I know a lot of people clown on mobile games for being what they are but there is still a genuine competitive side to them which I care for.
My concerns mostly dumb down to these two things: I genuinely think the game should do away with the aim assist and the recoil negation that appears to be implemented in the game already.
People will always complain how mobile players are bad and whatnot but I'm gonna ignore them as someone who's spent a decent amount of time on mobile FPS communities such as Critical Ops and Standoff2 (basically the two older brothers of VALORANT Mobile). Even if mobile players are bad, they can still adapt just as well as you can on a mouse (maybe not to the same mechanical level but my point still stands). If you're unaware, the touch screen isn't just limited to your thumbs thanks to the fact you most likely were born with 10 fingers. Claw grip can really take you places, and you can honestly get really precise even with your thumbs on a touchscreen. Again, this can all be seen from the many years that Standoff2 and Critical Ops has already collected with their playerbases.
Aim assist: Standoff2 is fun because it DOESN'T have aim assist, whereas Critical Ops is deemed too "easy" due to the fact it does have aim assist, and it's frustrating when a newcomer ends up headshotting you while full running due to the aim assist doing all the work for them (not to mention the negated recoil that seems to be the case for VALORANT mobile). The game is also a mobile-only edition of the game, so I really don't see the point in having it.
Now, the reduced recoil is genuinely something I am disliking. I felt Critical Ops and Standoff2 were a little too far on the easier side with recoil control as it barely even exists. Even on really really low sensitivities, you only need to move your finger down a millimeter to control up to the height of the spray. That's why I was excited for VALORANT to release on mobile as it would present an actual challenge for spraying (making the game more focused on head tapping), but the beta clips suggest they reduced it to make up for mobile players (which would just make the meta to be body spraying at neck level like C-OPS and SO2). it just doesn't seem to make sense to me, since VALORANT tries to present itself to be this precise gunplay game about head clicking. Generally the idea going through my head is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's working for VALORANT on PC, why change it for mobile? It's not like we can't drag down on our screen.
VALORANT is fun because it's difficult. Making these changes are going to turn the mobile port into another version of Critical Ops with abilities rather than being something new to the mobile platform, a genuine similarity between the PC game and the mobile game with no handicaps or unnecessary help from the game. I just really want to avoid the extremely easy metas that I mentioned before of just aiming for the body and controlling the recoil to get headshots, rather than the traditional VALORANT meta we currently know and love of just clicking heads (clicking- or rather tapping heads exist in the games I used as references, but in all honesty it's just more reliable and faster to just aim for the body and spray).
What do you guys think?
