Basically just what the title says, where the maps will be grouped into two map pools with 4 maps each. Since learning 8 maps for new players is pretty daunting. And probably too tiring for even casual players.
With this it can prevent any situations where players are just one tricking a map. Which still encourages players to learn multiple maps. And it can prevent a de_mirage situation in VALORANT rather than an accept or decline mechanic for maps. Players will now choose between two map pools before queueing.
Example Map pools:
Map pool ALPHA
- Bind
- Breeze
- Ascent
- Fracture
Map pool OMEGA
- Haven
- Icebox
- Split
- (8th new map)
Also the map pools aren't permanent meaning that Riot can mix n match the map pools every act or every patch if need be. Especially if there is a huge imbalance in the two map pool usage.
