I read a lot of posts in this subreddit which questioned whether or not bhopping yields a speed increase or not in this game. For example, this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/comments/g0hchv/psa_bunnyhopping_gives_up_to_a_10_speed_bonus/. There weren't any videos uploaded from the past that provided any proof or substance to back up any of the statements from the aforementioned posts. So I ended up trying to gather empirical data on this myself. This is disregarding the benefits of air strafing to begin with; solely focused on the purpose of testing to see if bhopping gains speed in forward movement.
I attempted to compare running forward simply with a knife, versus an alright attempt at bhopping forward. Same two scenarios, roughly lined up together in my video editor. I gave a half second windup at the beginning where both scenarios were running forward with knife out to start counting at maximum forward movement velocity by the time the character model passes the archway in the training range.
Here's the video on YouTube so that you guys can playback at 0.25x or 0.5x speed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsHDQaNnOwI
Counting just the frame-time data from my recordings at 60fps, from the arch way to immediately after the teleporter in the training range:
Bhop scenario yielded 6s+40/60 frames (6.67s) Running with knife out scenario yielded 7s+07/60 frames (7.12s) In my example video above, this is only a 6.7% movement speed increase, on top of having slightly an earlier jump at the archway for the bhop scenario and being overall meh at bhopping (false/illegal head start? 😅). This does seem to show, however, that bhopping absolutely perfectly in this game could believably yield up to a 10% movement speed increase as noted by a few other "hearsay" comments in this subreddit two years back.
