Random idea after encountering several AFKers in ranked recently. Currently plat 2.

Instead of punishing AFKers with a simple time restriction that nobody cares about, queue them up with other players that have a history of going AFK during matches - on both teams. I’ve played for a while now and have never thrown or left a ranked match mid-game because, well, everyone knows how much it sucks for the 4 other people on the team. Just one AFK incident should mark an account as one that is likely to repeat it. This way, all 10 players can go AFK in their match and have their own kinda fun…

EDIT: thought I’d make it clear that people who have bad connection but reconnect within a round or two aren’t the target players here. the team is usually cool with the player that reconnects and says “sorry, bad internet” or whatever. it’s the players who intentionally AFK/throw/rage quit for 10+ rounds who ruin games for other people. I think there is a clear distinction between these two types of players and we can all hopefully agree with that!
