Question for Controller Mains

Hiya

I'm a low elo Astra main, placed Gold 1 last Act and I've dropped down now to Bronze 2. I've genuinely played at least 15 games now and only had 1 win.

I'm honestly having a pretty awful time at this rank. The odd mix between players who are straight-up better than me, and players who are like deer in the headlights the whole game has made my games super inconsistent and I get fatigued very quickly.

Looking at my own gameplay, I find that one of my biggest issues is my patience. As a controller, I know that I need to be sitting behind, backing up my teammates so that we have my utility. The issue for me, however, is that no one pushes.

I'm not the type to blame my teammates, I know that this is the rank I belong in and I'm honestly fine with that. But when I've popped my smokes, and my team just stands around the choke point waiting for something to happen while the enemy team is getting the time to rotate, I tend to get pretty tilted and end up going in first (and usually dying first).

I get that no one wants to run in blind, but when our entry fraggers aren't making entry and my smokes are just being wasted, I have no idea how to adjust.

Am I doing this wrong? I assume that I am. I know that the best thing to do in these situations is just to rotate, but I find that a lot of the teammates I get in these situations are just so passive that they'll either get picked off before we even reach the other site, or the exact thing happens on the other site afterwards.

Would love to hear any advice.

TL;DR: I'm too impatient as a Controller and rush in first. How do I adjust to slower teammates?
