My friend claims he ranked up from gold 1 to gold 3 by winning 1 game. Is it possible to go from gold1 to gold3 without touching gold2?

Get rid of the "Alternate" accounts.
Probably 20%-40% of all accounts in this game are someone's "alternate" they use to play "don't-really-care" competitive games.
