Why, oh why must this be a thing? We spend 8 months, meticulously climbing in rank, just to be shut back to the pits of this game. I mean the fact that I’m a Gold1 playing against Plat2 players while in silver lobbies is so stupid to me. And the funny part? I don’t even have it as bad as a lot of other people!

Riot staying silent on their quote "most requested topic" - smurfs
Obviously smurfing was a problem for Valorant from the start. This was their response in a Ask Valorant post from October 22nd 2020:

I gave my hardstuck Gold 1 friend my account and he match mvped/promoted me back to Immortal
This really shows that rank means nothing in this game. Players with good game sense and aim can be held back because of how bad the experience is for lower ranked players. Platinum and below you are basically asking to get giga smurfed on...
