Before you comment anything, PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING.
Chamber is the best angle holder in the game right now after the Jett nerf. Angle holding is definitely a defensive tactic in a tactical shooter. That's what makes him a "sentinel". Someone who locks down site just like other sentinels, but he has his own ways to do it, that is by holding angles and Oping.
The way I see it is: The old Jett was split into two. Her attacking abilties: dashing into site aggresively and creating space is the "Current Jett". The remaining "defensive" abilties that made her so strong, that is Oping and holding off-angles for however she wanted is what Chamber is now.
Even when Riot addressed the changes to Jett, they clearly mentioned they didn't want dash to be so strong defensively. And what makes Chamber strong is exactly that. The ability to escape out after holding angles.
Also people say this nerf makes him "less of a sentinel" because they removed the trips. So if we nerf him the other way round and make his guns or TP weaker then what is Chamber? A cheap version of Cypher with no cage smokes and camera but an 8 bullet sherriff and a Yoru speed TP?
Right now they want Chamber to be this sniper assassin who can punish you and run away without any consequences. They want Cypher to be the master of information (still needs some buffs). Killjoy has ulitities that can stall you so much. Sage is still a healer agent I guess?
Chamber is now officially the best Oper in the game and Operator is a gun which is like 10 times strong on defense rounds or post-plant. And again, HOLDING ANGLES is a DEFENSIVE tactic. Being the best at this "defensive tactic" also means he is a master at this defensive technic which again makes him sentinel. Also he is the only agent that can peek out and still escape. Even Jett has to use more brain there now.
So during games, 9/10 chances are that a Chamber will destroy you either during defense or postplant. Even the other 1/10 he might swing you and run away probably because you, who is playing some other character decided to dry peek him, even then he can't clear or get into site, he can only get a pick which doesn't mean entry. One pick doesn't mean entry, what if there was 3 people in a site? Who can tell the tactics of the enemy team?
Even some of the biggest Valorant creators like GameLeap mentions that they have removed the "sentinel ability" of Chamber when he is clearly the best at two of the most used defensive tactics, Oping and angle-holding. The only other agent that is good enough is Reyna but she needs a kill and therefore in proplay she doesn't even stand a chance against Chamber for holding angles or off-angles. Also some people still wants sentinels to be just some info-gathering fucktards probably this happened because Viper and Astra used to make sentinels look like clowns. I also think the notion that only duelists should be the people who kill has to change. That was true till now because Jett whose dash was meant to create space, was so simple that she could do the exact thing Chamber can do. Now Chamber is the best Opper. So also the best sentinel for you if you have cracked aim or good Op skills.
Also remember that the lesser rank you are, the less prominent the agent roles will be, so a Chamber might take a pick by aggressively peeking you who is wide swinging dry without any info he will obviously feel like a duelist to you because his pick is what opens their entry but that doesn't make him a duelist. We can also say Omen is a duelist as we climb down the ranks but the more we rise up, the more controller he becomes, same for Chamber. If an Immortal Chamber comes into a Bronze lobby he might be their entry but that isn't the case when the skills are equal and it's a hard match.
