A person new to the tactical shooter genre will probably be confused by the four agent roles. Well those people are in luck, because I, a random internet stranger with basically no expertise, can explain them.
Initiator: So you want to kill people, but you want to tenderize them first. Before engaging the enemy, you sprinkle some flashes/stuns and maybe preemptively discover their location. Initiator abilities excel at bullying people out of their positions. If you fervently hate campers, this is the role for you.
Controller: So you want to kill people, but you don’t like how they also want to kill you. Fortunately, you can make it hard to be killed by blocking the enemy’s vision of you and your team. You want to make it so that your enemies can’t just stumble into an area and be able to find you in two seconds. If you like to hide, this is the role for you.
Sentinel: So you want to kill people, but you also want to play with your cool toys. Sentinel abilities make it hell for enemies to get close to you. There’s tripwires and turrets and a big rock, all obstacles for your opponents. A good sentinel makes the enemy team feel like they’re trudging through no man’s land. If you like to make life difficult for other people, this is the role for you.
Duelist: So you want to kill people. That’s it. You kill people. If you aren’t trying to constantly kill people, then you are either committing to a top-tier 5-star master plan that will clutch the game, or you forgot that you have to kill people as the kill-people class. If you’re tired of planning and setting up, this is the role for you.
