I typically play in a duo/trio setting and have a little bit of experience in a 5 stack setting in Valorant.
I have come to realize that in many games, comms aren’t entirely there. I know it’s much harder to shot call or be an IGL in matches with a lot of randoms as they may not always want to listen or they may not be as coordinated with other players but I feel like having some form of direction and communication can help turn bad games around or potentially clutch a losing round. In duo/trio settings, working among my friends helps a lot and make things easier as a whole for our team to win.
So my question is to those who play in 5 stacks or take on an IGL position in the game, what are some tips or advice you would give? I want to be able to make some more callouts and coordinate some plays with my teams and friends but I am also pretty shy and have anxiety doing so. I do plan on working on this and stepping out of my comfort zone to give it an honest attempt. I’m unsure of how I can go about this and not come off as backseaty, egotistical or in a negative light in trying to control what everyone does. A big anxiety of mine is coming off as toxic or backseaty, so I want to try and avoid that if possible. Is there any advice in regards to this?
Additional questions:
What are some things I can do to help team morale and make everyone feel good and in high spirits?
Also what are some general things I should be looking out for? Enemy ults, team economy, repeated plays/play styles, and what else?
