I've been playing for about eight months now, strictly solo queue, strictly unrated. The main reason for this is I don't want to feel like I've let a team down when there's something on the line - I much preferred to play Unrated (or Spike Rush, Replication etc) than get into Competitive.
That was until yesterday, when I thought I'd finally give Competitive a shot. I don't have a lot of time to play, and this evening I finally finished my placement rounds, and ended up in Bronze 2. I've played one game since, and the interesting thing is that the latest game (and the last two placement rounds) were a LOT more evenly matched than many of the Unrated games I've played, and were a far better experience.
The first (and only) game out of placement was a real blast, and I ended up as Match MVP and gained 32RR, which puts me one similar win away from Bronze 3.
I realise I don't have many games to compare this to, but with the last three games being a far better matchup than most unrated games I've played (they tend to swing massively either way, with insanely good players in with very, very bad ones), I think I'll continue to play this mode.
I hope this encourages people like me who weren't keen to play Competitive, to give it a shot.

They made deathmatch spawns worse. So much worse. People were spawning directly in front or behind others consistently.
