It is known that Valorant is one of the most intense games when it comes to your own mindset. Your mindset will impact your overall gameplay by A LOT, playstyle, aim and literally everything that you need during an intense competetive match.
So I've heard, that a lot of people and even pros or big streamers recommend playing a lot of DM in order to get your aim crispy and nice for the day, but I myself wouldn't recommend that, IF you are a player like me that is easily tilted.
I've come from CS: GO and found myself in a comfortable situation where I didn't have to learn all the aiming mechanics from the raw beginning. In addition I do have a really competetive mindset when it comes to gaming - and I found myself not being able to ignore all the deaths and footstep lurkers in DM. They tilted me. And even if you can train crosshair placement in DM, the movement of enemies in DM is not even close to what is really played in comp. There are certain situations that you can train, like peeking a site, simulating retake situations etc., but then again it is not that realistic being killed from a guy that spawns behind you while training how to wide peek a spot.
Don't get me wrong, DM is a nice to have, especially for newer players in this genre, so they can easily train aim and get a feeling for each presented map (except Split, which is absoluteley useless to this point, if you just try to get ready for comp games), but for me, an ascendant 2-3 player it only pushes up my tryhard mode and it really turns down my mindset for the upcoming comp games.
So what I CAN recommend is doing practice range for 10-15 Minutes if you want to get your aim crispy, it immediately showed off on the first day I started, I began to play way more consistent and finding myself in a better mindset.
I've seen a lot of improvements in my own playstile from what I am trying as a routine for a week now.
I've had problems in finding a way to improve recently, so that is a huge W for me.
My routine is quite simple:
Warmup in range for 10 Minutes, Vandal, Ghost, Phantom, Jett Knives.
Strafing, Spraying (Burst sprays), Spraytransfers, Crouchspraydowns with a focus on fast killing my opponent.
and then just hop into the game!
BUT; the clue for me is: Once you finished playing comp for a day, play range for another 10-20 minutes, train the same things again and then just go offline. It's like going to the gym. Your hand and arm will hurt and maybe start shaking after a while, but you will only get progress if you let your arm rest after a nice training.
Worked like wonders for me.
TL;DR: If you easily tilt, don't ever warm up in DM, since it will fuck up your mentality. Starting comp with a bad mentality will lead to inconsistent games, which in especially higher elo is a big let down.
