There's a new agent coming out rumored to balance utility heavy agents with a suppression ability.
Additionally, riot constantly is taking a look at Astra, viper to see if they're too oppressive. Also, there was a cypher nerf few patches ago that basically changed his entire gameplay.
I don't know why there's so much heat on utility plays. I started playing couple months ago and I main viper (and started off playing cypher a lot) and strategic/ creative use of utility is a very unique value-add of the game. Like yes at the end of the day gun mechanics (crosshair placement e.t.c) are essential but many of us enjoy playing sentinels/ controllers to impact map control.
Yes I guess I do have bias as someone who plays more of a sentinel style. So I'd call this more of a rant. But creative usage of each agent (any type) is such a fun aspect of this game that gets many people hooked.
