Valorant players of Reddit, what are some things you know about the game now that you wish you would have known starting out?

As a brand new player to the game in the last week, I absolutely love the game so far. It’s the most fun I have had in a shooter in years, simply because it pushes people to try to work together, and to win as a team. I love the idea of having people who leave matches prematurely punished for hurting their team. Yes, I’ve had frustrating rounds and good rounds like everyone, but it is just a game to me and I don’t take it too personally if I don’t do as good.

My first question to all of you fine folk is this: What advice would current you go back and tell past you? What would you say to instruct yourself to get the most out of every round? What coaching would you provide yourself?

I am also interested in knowing if many of you use a trainer like Aim Lab to help improve your “snap to target” Efficiency?

Personally, even after just a week of playing, I would advise myself to start out by following a stronger teammates lead, and see how they handle different engagements at different points of the map you are playing and pay attention to strong offence points, defence points, choke points, and flanking routes to see which point worked the best for me and my abilities, rather than just trotting up a similar route life after life.

So, now I pass the mic to you. What coaching would you give yourself to improve your chances when you started out, and if you do use a aiming trainer, did you find a change in your overall accuracy and response time?
