Haven't played in about a year or so, want to pick it up cause my friend has it but the last time I heard about it, the anti-cheat was sort of invasive and ran even on PC startup, and when the game was closed. Is it still like this?

You cannot blame your team for being hard-stuck BUT can we acknowledge we do get dealt bad cards, A LOT?
I told myself I would only post this when I reach Diamond (ranked up to Diamond 3 today). I was hard stuck Gold for a long time and I have been holding this in (In the grand scheme I know I still have a long way to go in learning this game)...
