Hi everyone!

Today I want to share with you the results of being nice to other people in-game and how that can help you succeed in Valorant. It's been a widely discussed topic, but in the last few days I had a wonderful experience by playing 16 games without loosing (15 wins and 1 draw) and I truly believe that this is directly related to my attitude towards other players and the way I interact with them. These are my advices:

  • Greet everyone during picks or when the game begins. Let them know you're communicating, no one should feel alone in a team game.
  • Discuss picks with your team and understand you can't always play your favourite.
  • Express ideas during buy phase, expect disagreement, don't extend yourself into arguments.
  • Calls should be clear and objective.
  • Don't argue about past rounds or at least don't make it a big deal.
  • Don´t blame others. Try to educate them instead. Expect disagreement. Don't insist. Don't let anyone in your team blame teammates. Blaming only results in stress, it doesn't make people play better.
  • Try to resolve conflicts in your team. Don't take sides and don't let other people get into arguments.
  • Take responsibility and apologise if needed. Let people know if you're underperforming. People will know they have to try a bit harder to fill in your gap.
  • Encourage your mates. "nice try!" "it's ok, np" "let's do it!" "You can do it!" "I've had bad games too".
  • Make others feel relaxed. Tell something funny. Laugh. But don't be too sarcastic to your team.
  • Be the entry, be the bait, go in front, make others feel you're giving everything for the game and they will eventually trade/refrag you. Do this specially if you're underperforming so that your strong teammates take advantage of it and carry you.
  • Learn from others. Higher ranked players have some cool tips for you. Listen to them if they want to teach you something. Thank them for the knowledge.
  • Remember that a comeback is always possible and it makes some of the best games you will play. Also, some comebacks are result of enemy players getting into arguments and ruining their own game. Let teammates know you want a comeback win and encourage them to do so.
  • Understand that every match is different. You get a bad team in some, you get a better team in the next one. But don't forget, you're also part of the team.
  • Some games you will win. Some games you will lose. Always, always keep this in mind.
  • Don't shout. Don't flame. Be the nice guy instead.
  • Mute in last case scenario, but try to avoid this.
  • Last but not least, tell yourself every player in your game is a person behind a computer and respect them. Many people are going through hard times, don't make it worse.

(Also, If someone is playing really, really good and asks you for an OP, take the risk.)

Background: recent events in my life made me rethink my attitude towards everything in general, in the sense I try to value things that really matter and to just be more joyful. Since the times I played counter-strike, I would stress too much with other players and myself and I think I never really tried to fix that. Some days I was in a good mood and would just act cool in-game, but other days I would get sort of upset with people I played with for loosing games or just because we disagreed. If I think of it now, it's just embaracing to be mad about a game, specially me being a casual player. It's not big news to say that when you stress yourself and other people, things can go wrong very easily. For example, If we imagine a team of doctors and nurses trying to resuscitate a person communicating like many people do in FPS games (I mean flaming and shouting), hospitals would be a total mess. "I DON´T CARE, PATIENT IS LOST ALREADY! I MAIN CHEST COMPRESSIONS BUT RAZE INSTAPICKED AND I DON'T KNOW HOW SAGE IS AT ANESTHESIOLOGIST RANK, SHE S*CKS"(quits). So I gave it a go and decided to change the way I interact with other players. It worked wonders, not just because I achieved so many victories, but because I also played more relaxed. And more relaxed means many other things like playing a smarter, more tactical game. Even my aim felt good. Everything just feels better. Everyone seems to enjoy the game a lot more and laugh frequently. What is even more interesting is that in most games I didn't carry the team, but really felt I was the fuel that made the engine of victory work.

Good Luck and Have Fun!
