Like a lot of players (although I don't think we're still the majority), I come from CSGO. On T side, it's a common practice that in the early round, the bomb is left at a spot where it can be retrieved by anyone on the team when you're ready to commit to attacking a site. I played CSGO from Silver 3 to Legendary Eagle and this has rarely become an issue.
Now, I'm a Gold player here in VALORANT, playing mainly sentinel agents. For some reason, I'm the designated spike planter. That's another issue, but fine. But having the spike always on me is severely limiting what I can and should be allowed to do. I can't lurk as Cypher. I don't have much time to set up post plant utilities as Killjoy. If I die because of an early aggression, or failing to trade a teammate, then the spike goes to the enemy team's control. I don't even mean shuffling the spike before committing to a hit. I'm aware that it makes quite an audible sound. Just leave it around a corner. Clear the area, then let me have the spike. I'll carry it for you. If there's an OPer watching that angle, we give the info and the spike to them. It's just infuriating. Let the spike sit on the floor and retrieve it when you've gained map control.
