Why does everyone have to shit talk each other, even at low ranks

I can't play a single game without any sort of shit talking. Why does it have to be so common, I get that I can just mute them but why do people seriously feel the need to be this way

Former Gold 3 player stuck in Bronze. I know Gold 3 is not high, but it seems crazy what I'm facing here. I don't claim to be a superstar, it's just insane some of the opponents I get..
