Why it's okay to complain about skins and why we should keep doing it

While the title of this thread might be a little aggressive, I think that a lot of people, including the developers miss the reason for a lot of complains about skins.

A lot of the time people complain about skins lacking certain features like animations, effects, sound, finisher etc. but fundamentally everyone is complaining about a product based on its cost.

Most skins in this game are solid judging only by the actual product (skin). But we literally have to pay the price of a AAA game for these skins. So any statement or argument by the devs regarding how much work a single skin bundle takes their "small" team is absolutely irrelevant.

If we are paying the price of a AAA game for a skin bundle, I think we can expect a little more.

Whenever the argument about skins shifts towards the price being outrageous, a lot of people state that Valorant is a free game and you don't have to buy any skins. This is NO reason to stop complaining about being unsatisfied with a product. Would no one complain about Starbucks raising its prices by 100% simply because you don't have to buy a coffee there?

If there is something wrong about a product you like (e.g. Valorant) but no one ever mentions it nothing will ever change.

If the dev team needs more time to put out quality skins and they wont expand their resources they could simply re-release previous bundles. The only reason why they wont do this, is the same reason why everyone complains about skins to begin with, money. They will lose money since there will be less FOMO. People wont feel like missing out on skins and they will be less impulsive about buying a skin in their rotation store.

Hopefully some people might realize by now that everything is just about this one thing called money.

Not expanding their resources aka their "small" team due to it not being an instant fix is also a bad excuse. No matter the area you are working in, you can get more done with more people. It might not scale in a linear way, but imagine Valorant having multiple small design teams. Each team could be assigned to a certain time period to release their skins in. If you limit the interaction between the specific teams to peer reviews to ensure quality, it's definitely possible.

TL;DR: Complains about skin bundles are valid complain due to the outrageous price on these skin bundles. No one fundamentally dislikes skins or the work the devs put into these skins. We complain about the price we are paying for a given product, which doesn't match up. Just consider that a skin bundle often times costs as much as a AAA game. This is something not the devs, but the higher management has to fix.

EDIT:

I've seen a lot of comments about how only voting with your wallet (aka not buying skins) will solve the problem. While I don't disagree with this being the most effective way, I do think complaining/criticizing can be used effectively as well.

One big strength of criticizing something in a public manner is to make other people aware of potential problems. This could lead to more people questioning parts of a product and maybe rethinking a potential buying decision. In a sense you are trying to bring others to also vote with their money, increasing the chances of a potential change in the future.
