Why is silver lobbies are so hard to play in?

As an immortal player getting mvp most of the time when I play with my friend I struggle playing against silver/gold players any one else can relate?!

How is it possible to double rank up when not even a party mvp?

So someone I played with double ranked up from gold 1 to gold 3, stats were nothing special 15kills 15deaths. Does anyone know what could make this into a double rank up?
