Seeing the just recently leaked 2.06 patchnotes (and the lack of this feature in particular), I'd like to mention this again. In the current state, you can cast Gatecrash in the pre-round phase, but the TP orb will immediately start counting down as it does mid-round. This can be awkward at times forcing you to time it with the start of the round for maximum lifetime (and I bet all of you playing him have at least once cast it pre-round and then realized that it's already halfway done before the round starts).
Having the orb timer frozen before round start would be a small but nice fix.
I tried to theorize how this could be abused, but don't see that much that could be exploited here. In theory you could then maximize distance by casting it pre-round on one side of the map and move to the other side before round start, but that doesn't seem that problematic to me. And if it were, they could simply reduce it's lifetime slightly to compensate.
