Now that Yoru's got his rework, maybe Riot can focus on our poor boy Phoenix who's just been left behind in the ashes with new powercreeped duelists and unique characteristics. Below this is a short list of potential Phoenix buffs I figure I'd share that could help him finally be a pretty cool (or I should say a pretty spicy) agent to use in the current state of the game.
DISCLAIMER/NOTE: These ideas should be treated as independent changes; I'm not suggesting every one of these changes to be implemented together—rather it'd be a select combination of different ideas to shape this agent into a more unique duelist. You can decide for yourself which ones sound great/horrible, or which ones sound too overpowered/underpowered, or which ones sound interesting/boring to add, etc...
——————————————————————————————————————————————
- Increase the healing rate Phoenix receives from his flames.
- Make it possible for Phoenix to receive the Overheal buff from his flames.
- When an enemy touches Phoenix's flames, they'll be inflicted with a Scorched debuff, which slowly chips away the enemy's HP (up to 10 HP over 5 seconds (arbitrary numbers)). This effect is LETHAL; enemies are able to die from this effect if their HP is low enough (Also arbitrary, it might be too OP but idrk). This effect can be immediately cleansed if the affected enemy receives a Healing buff.
- Change Phoenix's 2-Kill Cooldown from only applying to his Hot Hands ability (Phoenix's molly) to also apply to Blaze (Phoenix's fire wall) and Curveball (Phoenix's flash), but in a different manner: Phoenix can choose to expend this 'Kill Charge' on any one of his normal abilities, regardless of how many ability charges Phoenix has actually bought/used. Obviously, this charge will take priority over unused/bought charges, and can only be obtained once per round. This mechanic should probably have its own GUI/Visuals to distinguish it from other 2-Kill Cooldown abilities and to make him feel unique to play overall (how's about a "HEATED" gauge where his HUD outline starts to glow a faint red-orange?)
- When Phoenix's Blaze ability is up, bullets traveling through it will be treated as if shot through normal walls (In other words: it greatly mitigates bullet damage; think of it like a discount Astra wall).
- Slightly increase Blaze's Healing buff hitbox width (so Phoenix doesn't have to literally go up against his wall to heal—possibly exposing himself to the other side or just obstructing the player's vision with creamy orange colors)
- Increase the maximum travel length and travel speed of Blaze by 50% (arbitrary number).
- Enable Phoenix's Blaze ability to travel through walls, similar to Viper's toxin wall.
- Increase the maximum charge of Blaze from 1 >>> 2.
- During Run It Back (Phoenix's ultimate), Phoenix can choose to toggle his recall mode from its original & fixed location to his current position by pressing the ability keybind. If toggled to recall to his current position, Phoenix will go through a similar post-ability animation in 1st-Person POV—enabling free movement whilst temporarily disarming his weapons/utilities. Phoenix is invulnerable during the first second or first 1.5 seconds of this post-ability animation (when he would normally disappear to recall to his original location), and the duration of this animation should be exactly the same as recalling to his original location.
- When casting Run It Back, Phoenix rapidly restores all lost HP during the pre-cast animation.
- When casting Run It Back, Phoenix will gain a Flame Armor buff that lasts throughout the ability's duration. Flame Armor functions like a heavy shield item, but overrides any normal armor points Phoenix has (if any). Phoenix will retain the durability of his shield from before casting the ability.
- During Run It Back, Phoenix will gain a Healing buff that lasts throughout the ability's duration. The heal rate is equivalent to standing in his own flames.
- Under justifiable reasoning/balancing, increase the cost of Run It Back from 6 >>> 7 ult points.
