For context on my gaming experience: This is my first PC fps, but I'm not new to sexism in the gaming community since I've played other competitive games like Smash a lot in the past.
I love Valorant and even though I'm bronze I know I have enough love for the game to improve to rank up. But what's really setting me back mentally is toxic teammates and the fear that as soon as I comm I'm taking a risk on if I have a good game or not.
I have experienced everything from the typical "make me a sandwich jokes" to disturbing sexual comments and of course, griefers. Every time it happens to me I instantly start running it down and whiffing causing the harassment to ensue even more and I just don't have fun playing.
I've resorted to changing my username to something not feminine but due to the fact I try to be friendly in text chat and play Sage/Killjoy a lot I still get harassed sometimes, (unlucky really)
I have tried muting, which works sometimes, but a lot of the time they resort to griefing me. Even after muting my mental is chalked. I have tried finding duos or teammates to play with, no one really clicked, even if they were also a girl. Also in general solo queueing has helped me improve.
I think the harassment hurts a lot more in Valorant as opposed to a game like Smash because it's a team game. I'll have games where my team will compliment my plays and I'll think it's safe to voice comm until they do a complete 180 and start the sexism.
Of course I don't want to make it seem like I'm just bitching about being a woman, I genuinely have met nice people after taking the voice comm risk. But it's just been too hard to bear lately.
TLDR: Any tips for how to keep a good mental and flow to improve even with all the sexist shit/toxic people in general I have to deal with?

In the midst of all the game complaint posts, I'd like to raise a point that has been plagueing me outside of VALORANT itself for months now.
