Its undeniable that there is a huge smurfing problem in low elo, it feels like every other game there is some guy just running around headshotting everyone and getting 30+ kills while his teammates are all bellow 14.
The main reason it is so prevalent is because it's so easy to get a low ranked account. All you need to do to get an account eligible to play ranked is win 10 unrated games. If a group of 5 diamond players decide they each want to get a smurf all they have to do is sign up for an account 5 stack and smash some newbies for 10 games and if they can get them to ff round 4 every game they could be eligible to play ranked is just a few hours. With it being so easy for these players why would they not smurf?
In league it is so much harder to get a smurf account eligible to play ranked and as a result you see way less smurfs I have played around 300 games is LoL this season and have seen a single digit amount of clear smurfs but I have only played around 75ish games of Valorant comp since January and I have seen tens of smurfs. In League you must get your account up to level 30 in order to play ranked which can take a very long time (over 100 games). This leaves players who want to smurf with a choice buy an account or grind through the levels. Not many people want to spend money for a smurf and the time investment to do it manually is really long which means most high elo players just don't smurf because its too much of a pain.
Valorant has just introduced a level system and this is a good opportunity to help fix the smurfing problem by putting a level requirement on comp.
TLDR: its too easy to get an account eligible to play ranked make it harder.
