Help! I'm a bad jett player and the ult isn't working right

So I see a bunch of jett players ulting then updrafting and getting cool and funny knife kills. But when I try it, I'll ult, updraft, and then my vandal will pull out and i'm screwed. Am I stupid or am I doing something wrong? Help!!!

I've noticed a very bad habit in myself that I can't seem to break, and it leads me to losing a ton of gunfights. I tend to start shooting just a FRACTION of a second before my movement penalty is up, and this often leads to my first bulle...
