My friend got more than 10k valorant points

I know this sounds stupid, but my friend got 4400 points 3 times in about a month. He has made no purchase nor is there any purchases made with the card. We checked his account purchase history and he got them through codes, but he has not used any codes. We thought somebody was sending them on purpose, but why would anybody do that ?

And ideas to what this might be ?

What is the right equipment to buy in pistol round?

I myself buy light shields then a ability or two then stick with the classic, But people say to buy a ghost in pistol round? What do you guys think?
