Been in shooters since CS probably around 2014, learnt a lot of shit, a lot of tips a lot of habits and watched a lot of content, but one point which we always see high level players doing, yet noone talks about is the way they sustain split second focus within rounds.
This is of course subjective, but i recently started doing this and it feels like the lowest effort highest reward habit I have ever done.
At face level rounds don't seem that long, you should be able to hold your focus for 2 minutes yet people, me included will hold an angle, with their mouse completely still, barely moving for extended periods and practically your brain just shuts off, when a player inevitably does come around that corner you react like a slug.
The way I see it the longer you stare at an angle, or hold a position, the more detached your focus comes from the game. Wiggle your crosshair, tap your shift key, do something to keep your brain permanently focused and active. I know some people do this to extremes like they have adhd but playing like a crackhead and keeping your fingers and brain active during situations where nothings happening is the difference between being in the game when someone peeks you and just reacting.
Keep an active crosshair, and an active playermodel, any form of persistent interaction with the game creates attention and "awakeness"
