Just now I got a video in my recommended page about aim and the first thing they talked about was “counter strafing”.
I thought by now it was common knowledge for most people that counter strafing doesn’t do anything, but it seems like a lot of people still don’t know and people still make guides telling people to use counter strafing so I wanted to share this so hopefully more people will be aware.
Counter strafing is an important mechanic in CSGO since it does help you stand still faster, but this is not the same in Valorant. Just letting go of the key is enough.
This video of Woohoojin explains it perfectly:

Just some last thoughts: I know some people also play CSGO and are used to counter strafing and in this case it’s fine to do it.
It’s not “bad” to do, it’s just not necessary so if you are not already used to it there is no point in learning it.
EDIT: With “counter strafing” I’m talking about pressing the opposite strafe key to stand still faster, not about strafing left and right to make it harder for your opponents to hit you.
