As I am new to FPS gaming, I am not sure if this is done before but I have an idea for getting better teammates.
I am a gold player and have never climbed up that rank. I do communicate in game and expect my teammates to do the same. But as you know, most people do not communicate in low elos. I have sometimes been fortunate to get teammates that gives perfect callouts and good comms during games and I wish to get more like that but I don't.
Solution - A rating system (out of 5 stars) which you give to your teammates when the game ends. Eg- A player ABC gives good comms and does not throw or tilt during the game. At the end gets an avg of 4.5 rating from the rest 4 teammates. A bad teammate XYZ who throws the game gets 1.5 rating. And a player GHI without comms or callouts but plays well recieves a rating of 3.
These ratings will be saved and will be added to the players overall rating (from other games). The player ABC has played 15 games and has an average rating of 4.3. The player XYZ has played 20 games and has an average of 2.3 rating. And the player GHI with 21 games has an average of 3.4.
These ratings will now determine the teammates of next matches. A player with an average rating of 4 will get teammates who are near his rating (maybe 3.5-4.5) and similarly a player with low ratings will get other low rated teammates.
Advantages-
-
Discourages throwing, tilting or any bad behaviour from players.
-
Encourages communication and better team play as players with low ratings will try to escape there ratings by being a better teammate.
-
A better match experience for players with good ratings.
Might have few problems that i am overlooking. But overall this rating system might solve few issues. What are your thoughts on this? Also let me know if any game already has this.
