State of the Agents

Hi all, i want to share my thoughts on State of the Agents currently on Valorant. i am not Pro player or anything, i just like to analyze things and share it. I'm mainly play smokes and sentinel (especially Astra), but i also flex on duelist and initiator, although i have the least knowledge on initiator.

This is for sharing my thoughts and i play certain agent more than the others, so it might be bias. So please dont flame me for my thoughts, feel free to share your disagreement though.

I will not talk about the very details of what the agents should do or change. i will categorize them in 4 categories and share my brief thoughts on them.

Need Nerf:

  • Jett: Like everyone has been discussing about for the past months. this agent is the most overpowered agent. Her dash and ult make her stronger than all duelist. So (1) she can only dash in the direction she's facing (2) make her ult time limited like Reyna (and not having knife after res) but rollback her right click kill to obtain the knives is fine.

  • Sova: He is the information powerhouse that no initiator can compete (probably Skye but not enough). In the most map except split and fracture, not picking him is a bad pick and i am not sure what nerf should be for him that wont make him unplayable. please share your thoughts. But if i have to add nerf, probably decrease how many pulse of position information from his recon and drone.

Note: this is controversial statement but i will say it. i think both Astra and Viper is not overpowered, but the other smokes (Omen and Brim) is the one that is really underwhelming.

In a Good Place:

  • Astra: she was overpowered before her nerf. after the added cooldown on recalled star, charge before the stars activated and her abilitites is an effective nerf. Also to be good with Astra you have to have a really good comms with your teammate. i'm not saying if you play omen or brim with a bad comm is good, but if you have lil bit bad team comm, Astra is not that overpowered (suck and concuss timing, and also wall strat play).

  • Viper: same with Astra, she is in a good place right now after her nerf on the molly and the decay. she just need other Agent that can rival her vision denial in her wall abilities.

  • Sage: if i can be honest, her kit is undewhelming compared to KJ and Cypher as sentinel, but we keep seeing people lock sage in ranked match if there's sentinel slot. and she's still must pick on Icebox. so i will put her in a Good Place for now because of her unique abilities.

  • Chamber: i dont play this agent enough, and we haven't seen him in tier S pro match. but i think his kit is balanced, even though he is better as secondary sentinel than a main sentinel like KJ and Cypher in my opinion.

  • Raze: some say she can be better on Split and Bind than Jett, but that is how agent pick supposed to be!

  • Reyna: i think she is balanced, she is not must pick on all maps like Jett, but its nice to have her as a secondary duelist.

  • Skye: I was actually hesitant to put her on this category, i was about to put her on Need Nerf, but after some thinking. Sova is just still a must pick when there's only one slot for initiator

Need Slight Buff:

  • Omen: he is a good agent, but Astra is better as smokes. (1) decrease the time of his TP ability a lil bit, (2) decrease the time his smokes is deployed, (3) his ult is super underwhelming, i read somewhere that he will get buff when he's ulting the enemy around him is blind, please do that!

  • Killjoy: i think we all know since the nerf on KJ and Cypher, the meta is a lil bit sentinel-less. in pro matches, they pick Viper on Bind as sentinel intead of real sentinel agent. i think (1) rollback her nerf on increased cooldown of recalling her kit and decreased slow when hit by turret, (2) add buff so that she can recall her molly as well since she is the "mobile sentinel" should make her great again

  • Cypher: in my opinion he is a really good sentinel agent, but since his kit rely on setup, people started to adapt and knows all of Cypher's setup. Probably buff that he needs, (1) make abilities (skye wolf, boombot, etc.) doesn't destroy his tripwire, (2) make his cage works like Viper Orb (can be pick up and activated remotely), (3) g-g-g-give me a corpse, for god sake add more range to activate his ult. and maybe add the duration of how long the enemy exposed from his ult to 3 seconds.

  • KAY/O: i was not sure to put him either in good place or need slight buff category, he is played in some pro matches but he is definitely a lil bit underwhelming on ranked. if i have to add buff to him, it should be his molly, probably give a hint to him and his team that someone is hit by the molly (shown in the map or voice hint)

Need Rework or Heavy Buff:

  • Brimstone: (1) Rework his stim beacon, the most underpowered abilitites in the game, i think i read somewhere instead of giving extra RoF, give people in the circle extra shield (might be overtune), (2) make his smokes like Astra and Omen, after using one or more of his smokes, theres a cooldown to add more smokes there, it is fine if it is only one smoke (total 4 smokes in a round), but at least his smokes is not limited only 3. (3) obviously add range to his smokes. because he is controller but he needs to be close to the place he wants to deploy the smokes is kinda bad.

  • Phoenix: his wall and molly abilitites is really underpowered. I think (1) his wall should be buff, maybe add more range and duration to it (2a) his molly needs to be reworked, i honestly dont know what is good to replace that kit, please share your thoughts or (2b) increase health regen speed for both of his wall and molly (and add overhealed like Reyna). but i think rework on his molly is better.

  • Yoru: other than his flash, all of his kit is underpowered. (1) like everyone said, rework the fake footstep to be like full fake body, (2) make his TP faster in the origin place, on the destination place it is fine if there's animation (chamber is the better duelist than Yoru because of this), (3) The dimensional demon who can sneak through enemy lines without being seen, instead its so loud and still visible from some range, so decrease the range of him being visible in ult or increase his vision. and decrease the sound after he finishes ulting.

  • Breach: even though he is viable on maps like Split and Fracture, but compared to other initator, he is the only one that doesn't provide information. So for both his signature and ult abilities, they should add some kind of information either (1a) like skye when blinding, when someone is in the concussive area of his ult and signature abilities, he should say "concussed" or something, or (1b) show them in the minimap. (Wallhack like Sova will be overtuned though). (2) I think his aftershock is a little bit underwhelming but i dont know what should replace that abilitites, please share your thoughts.

Unranked:

Neon: I think it is still super early to decide whether Neon is good or not, but from my first impression, her wall abilities is too strong and her ult is too weak.

That's it, sorry for the long post, like i said this me sharing my thoughts, I'm trying to be as objective as possible. So please dont flame me. I hope Riot listen to us though.
