The operator holds back valorant from being what it should be.

I've played this game since beta, playing elos ranging from platinum in E1A1 to top 600playing with some of the best players in the world. And would like to share my view on the weapon.

The operator will never be perfect due to the very nature of Valorant and the varying playstyles of the different agents, however one thing stands clear; mobility is king. A weapon that generally goes untouched outside of two agents should be a red flag to start with the question of the weapon even belonging in the game to begin with.

Defence operator Jett has become the main character of every game. Every smoke, flash, drone, stun, and general utility has to be sacrificed for this one agent. An agent that despite all of this has the ability to simply dry swing your team out of any situation imaginable and be out the very next millisecond. It doesn't fit with what valorant is meant to be. All of the times you went 9 / 3 up on icebox through sheer tactical superiority only to be absolutely demolished by a jett that finally got their hands on an operator. Did you feel outplayed?

It's an unhealthy one dimensional playstyle that rewards the user for the lowest of efforts. Now think of it from your own experience, do you really feel out-played when watch your entire team get demolished despite using every resource available to combat it? The argument usually goes as follows; the operator(used by chamber/jett) is not over powered you just need learn how to play against it, this argument falls short as i see top 500 players struggle just as much as low diamond lobbies.

Jett saw an 85% pickrate in the 51 group stage matches of Valorant Champions 2021, boasting 100% pickrate on Icebox, Breeze and Ascent. An agent that has become a near must pick for professional play, it's not exciting to see such a boring and one dimensional playstyle on defence.

Don't get me wrong, neither the operator nor jett is a problem on it's own. It is the combination of instant mobility with a oneshot cannon that just makes it unfair.

TLDR; The defence operator is a one dimensional playstyle that in my view is unhealthy and promotes an unfair playstyle that does not feel good to play against, nor with. Getting demolished by a dry swinging cannon that carries entire games on dueling doesn't feel right and does not belong in Valorant. I recommend you to read the entire post to get an understanding of what I mean.

EDIT: shortened down the post for quicker read.
