Why is eco so important?

Valorant is my first fps and I'm a bit curious and confused. If you have enough money to buy the guns you want why does it matter? Why's there an eco score?

Who do you main and why do you main them?

I want to know what makes people more directed towards a certain character or type of character I main yoru because i like deceiving my oponents and also he looks flashy
